Previously students protested to stop online exams and wrongfully fee collection during the ongoing lock down condition. Later HEC responded badly to students telling them that: “They will not let them pass for free.”
On the other hand, students in rural areas and especially in far away territories like FATA, AJK, and desert areas were deprived of good internet.
Students were forced to take exams online by hook or by crook even though they were not having good internet. In some areas, the internet service was totally out of the coverage.
Today people in AJK protested to improve internet speed in AJK.
We have also seen cheating cases as where students claim that how we can take exam when there were actually no teachers to teach us?
They also claimed even the teachers who taught online via Youtube, Google classes, and other mediums like Zoom were also not sure of their methodology. They themselves were new to this kind of teaching and were not prepared.
What HEC is doing now?
HEC continued fee collection and taking side of private and public institutes.
HEC claims that everything will be online and we are doing our best to provide education online.
It is worth noting that Pakistan lacks online teaching standards. Teachers are not trained of online teaching and neither they have video recording setups at their places.
Some of the front-line students in protests also got suspension letters from their institutes.
What students are demanding now?
Students demand the resignation of HEC chairman who actually failed to deliver his service. His reaction to the students’ protest was seriously defensive.
The way HEC made fun of students was seriously intolerable.
This clearly shows the lack of competency and unfaithful behavior towards Chairman HEC’s job duties and position.
Just having the fee and funds while depriving the rights of students is the foremost priority seen for students by so-called educational ministry and HEC.
